Job Advert Location Description

Located in Narborough, Leicestershire, Sketchley Forest House is a specialist day school for young people aged 8 to 19 who have Asperger’s syndrome, autistic spectrum disorder and associated conditions. 

Sketchley Forest House has been built following the success of Sketchley School and is under the same management and registration as Sketchley School, which has received an outstanding in all areas by Ofsted.

As a day school, we provide an alternative to residential education which supports pupils to develop independence and social skills, whilst living in their home environment. We aim to deliver the highest level of education and care according to individual need in a safe, warm, welcoming, structured and fun environment.

Job Advert Role Description

We are seeking to appoint a committed and reflective teacher, who has an understanding of how to meet the additional needs of pupils in a specialist provision, to join our vibrant and enthusiastic staff.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate excellent skills in planning and reporting across the curriculum for key stage 4.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with a small group of young people with autism and complex needs, supported by experienced Teaching Assistants. Additional training will be available where appropriate.

The successful candidate will:

  • Share our passion for high aspiration and achievement for all
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills
  • Be highly organised and adaptable
  • Be committed to working in partnership with parents and outside agencies

The following skills would be of benefit to the role:

  • A good knowledge of autism and/or experience of working with young people on the autism spectrum
  • Experience in teaching maths and/or science preferable.
