Job Advert - Division Information

Providing quality, inspiring innovation and  delivering value is what we set out to achieve at Priory Healthcare. Enabling our patients with mental health difficulties to receive a truly integrated and holistic approach to their treatment, regardless of complexity or severity, thanks to the knowledge and expertise of our multidisciplinary clinical teams.

Job Advert Location Description

The Priory Hospital Calverton Hill is a  60 bedded inpatient hospital.  Services include medium secure wards for women, women with intellectual disability and men with intellecutal disability.  There is also an acute adult admissions ward (non secure) on site.  The Hospital Director is the registered manager and there is a controlled drugs Accountable Officer.

Priory Hospital Hazelwood House is a 14 bedded low secure unit for men with intellectual disability.

Priory Calverton Hill Hospital underwent its most recent announced CQC inspection in 2017 and was rated good in all areas.

Safety and quality is at the heart of everything we do for our patients at Priory Hospitals.  We strive at all times to provide care in the least restrictive manner, to maximise our patients’ independence, to empower and involve our patients and their carers in their care, and to maintain the highest standards of dignity and respect for our patients and their carers.

Job Advert Role Description

The forensic intellectual disability service for men covers two sites (Priory Hospitals Calverton Hill and Hazelwood House).  The post-holder will work across the two sites but will have an administrative base at Priory Hospital Calverton Hill.  The post holder is responsible for Rufford ward (16 beds, male medium secure ID at Calverton Hill) and Hazelwood House (14 beds, male low secure ID).  The forensic intellectual disability service for men operates a consultant-led medical model, supported by a full MDT including a Specialty Doctor.  The focus is on high quality expert psychiatric care delivered to the ward by medical staff who are specifically trained and skilled in the models of care, and who are clinical leaders for values, ethics, and innovation.   The successful applicant will be expected to work collaboratively with the MDT and with the governance structures at the hospitals.

Due to the nature of the caseload the successful candidate will have a CCT in Intellectual Disability Psychiatry or joint CCTs in ID and Forensic Psychiatry.  For candidates with ID CCT forensic experience is preferable but not essential.  A package of further training and support will be available to holders of ID CCTs to assist them in developing the necessary skills and competencies to work with the challenging but rewarding caseload.

The successful candidate will be joining an expanding and clinically diverse Region (Priory North).  There is strong governance within the Region and the successful applicant will be expected to take an active role in service and quality development and to participate in Regional meetings and Service Line meetings as necessary.  The successful candidate will have a demonstrated interest in working in forensic psychiatric services, and a commitment to evidence-based interventions, multi-professional working, and service-user involvement.

The Priory Hospitals East Midlands Cluster operates a first on call consultant rota with a 1 in 7 commitment.
