The Cloisters is a 25 bedded open rehabilitation unit, set within a peaceful environment on the edge of Newbury. The unit offers in-patient rehabilitation services to service users who require longer hospital stays than provided in an acute ward, to develop independent living skills prior to moving into community based accommodation.

Job Advert Role Description

We are looking to recruit a dynamic person to join our Occupational Therapist team. The successful candidate will provide support and facilitate individual and group sessions to patients who have long and enduring mental illness in an inpatient hospital setting working collaboratively with individuals to promote their recovery and enhance their social inclusion. The role will have a significant social and recreational element which will require the development of therapeutic relationships with some out of hours and weekend working. you will assist our lead occupational Therapist, healthcare assistants and nurses in the assesment , planning, implementation and evaluation of individule care plans.

 

The successful candidate will have excellent listening, communication and report writing skills. You will be motivated, highly reliable, willing to work flexible hours and able to work within an emotionally demanding environment. You will be able to demonstrate a positive, creative and an imaginative approach to problem solving. It is desirable that you will have relevant experience within mental health and have level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care or equivalent. The role involves taking service users in to the community and on rehabilitation trips therefore it is essential for the post holder to have a full UK driving licence held for more than 3 years and be willing to drive our hospital vehicles.

 

 

This is a full time post of 37.5 hours per week worked predominantly Monday to Friday but will include some bank holidays and weekends when required and at times outside the normal office hours.
