Job Advert Location Description

Grafton Manor provides highly specialised neuro-behavioural rehabilitation for men and women aged 18 years and older, with an acquired brain injury, including traumatic brain injury and strokes. The rehabilitation programme at Grafton Manor is particularly aimed at helping people who have experienced cognitive, behavioural and emotional changes as a consequence of brain injury to ensure they can access all areas of rehabilitation.

The site, set in a quiet village in peaceful countryside, includes an attractive, historic and purpose-fitted cottage called The Chantry, a flat and a studio flat. We also have two community houses situated in Kingsley just outside of Northampton. The split consists of:

Grafton Manor - 13 beds
The Chantry - 5 beds
Cottage, Flat and Studio flat - 3 beds
Community Houses in Kingsley - 6 beds

This established care pathway of 27 beds enables people with acquired brain injury to maximise their independence at any stage of their post-acute recovery journey.

Job Advert Role Description

Our Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist role involves:


  • Offering clinical leadership to and overseeing the specialised neurobehavioural rehabilitation programme
  • Delivering clinical neuropsychology into the service
  • Actively engaging and contributing to appropriate local networks
  • Forming positive relationships with commissioners of services
  • Ensuring the suitability of referrals made to the service quickly, efficiently and helpfully
  • Overseeing the routinely collated service level clinical outcome measures to make certain that Grafton Manor is effective, and where necessary identify areas for continual improvement in the quality of the therapeutic programme
  • Contributing to the supervision and specialist training of members of the transdisciplinary team
  • Establishing and maintaining a research culture within the service.


To be successful as Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist, you’ll need

Professional Qualifications & Memberships

  • Recipient of a BPS accredited and HCPC approved Doctorate in Clinical Psychology or equivalent
  • Registered as a Clinical Psychologist with the HCPC
  • Chartered Member of the BPS and member of the Division of Neuropsychology
  • The ideal candidate would have undertaken post doctoral training in clinical neuropsychology and be entered on the BPS Special Register of Clinical Neuropsychologists


Professional Competencies & Experience

  • Track record of effectively delivering clinical neuropsychology input to neurobehavioural rehabilitation services for people with ABI with severe challenging behaviour
  • Acknowledged as having expertise in, and an advocate of, neurobehavioural rehabilitation
  • Advanced skills to assess, formulate, intervene and evaluate complex cases, requiring the ability to manage multifaceted information, working in conjunction with service users and the transdisciplinary team, and drawing from a range of applicable therapeutic, evidence-based psychological therapies

-Track record in identifying, measuring and reducing forensic risk behaviours in ABI

Personal Skills & Qualities

  • A professional who is able to positively influence a range of internal/external stakeholders to effectively promote and market Brain Injury Services
  • A professional who can work with the Lead Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist in setting standards, producing recommendations and communicating these
