Job Advert Role Description

We are looking to recruit a Data Protection and Information Officer to join our  team in our Head Office.

Providing efficient and effective Data Protection support within the business.

Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills are essential. Strong IT Skills are required along with having the ability to prioritise. 

This post is key to supporting the business to ensure ongoing compliance with obligations relating to data protection, the retention of staff and service user records and responding to requests for access to that data.  

Duties include:

  •  Support the Group’s GDPR Readiness Project; supporting data mapping, drafting policies and guidance notes, remaining abreast of updates and creating summary documents
  • Managing day-to-day data protection compliance and advising on legal requirements and best practice
  • Being  the main day-to-day contact with the business to advise on potential complaints and breaches, ensuring that all breaches are notified and investigated in accordance with the legal framework
  • Being the main day-to-day contact for all subject access requests and third party requests for data, ensuring that all requests for information are properly handled
  • Provide assistance to the Quality Improvement Leads in their audit role in terms of data protection and document maintenance
  • Review and revision of all internal policies dealing with data protection and data management
  • Provide data protection input to new Projects being implemented across the business and produce Privacy Impact Assessments as required with the relevant area of business
  • Development and maintenance of a data protection knowledge base for the business
  • Assist in the development and delivery of a comprehensive privacy awareness training programme ding face to face and on-line training
  • Develop an understanding of operational processes and controls, and support in assessing their effectiveness in mitigating data protection risks faced by the Group

What we’d like from you:

  • A strong background and skillset in data protection gained in a commercial or healthcare organisation
  • At least two years` experience in a data protection role.
  • Good working knowledge of the EU GDPR.
  • Prior experience of handling and responding to subject access requests
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Honours degree or equivalent qualifications (higher education or professional qualifications) in data protection or law
  • Understands and applies strong principles of confidentiality at all times
  • Forward thinking, proactive and creative
  • The ability to deal with multiple issues simultaneously in a highly dynamic environment.
