Job Advert Location Description

Located in Wrexham, Fairhome provides specialist residential support and nursing for 23 adults with functional mental health problems and dual diagnosis with mental health, for example, acquired brain injury and learning disabilities.

Residents are encouraged to develop daily living skills to maximise their independence such as shopping, budgeting and cooking. The service has 24 hour staff support on site, as well as access to full multidisciplinary and primary care services in the local area.

Job Advert Role Description

You will ensure the ongoing provision for the individuals nursing care, covering the three main areas of:-

1. Psychiatric Nursing

2. Rehabilitation

3. Life Enhancement

The quality of care provided to each individual should be of an extremely high standard being sensitive to individual abilities, respecting privacy and catering for social, emotional, religious and cultural needs.  Individuals should always be encouraged to lead as independent a life as possible.


1. To assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care.

2. To help develop individual care programmes based on assessed needs, in conjunction with the referring agents and the multi-disciplinary team.

3. Foster good relations and lines of communication with other disciplines/services/agencies involved with individuals’ care.  This liaison with the outside agencies is of the utmost importance.

4. To keep abreast of development and current trends when caring for people who have a mental health problem.

5. Be aware of mental health issues and the Mental Health Act.

6. Ensure the NMC and Priory group for drug administration, storage and handling of medication are adhered to.

7. Promote access to independent advocacy for the individuals.

8. Participate in the key worker system.


Assist the Project Manager and Deputy with the following:-

1. Implement induction programmes for newly appointed staff.

2. Implement in-service training and staff development programmes.

3. Ensure that all staff are familiar with Partnerships in Care policies and guidelines.

4. Opportunities will exist for the post holder to undertake further training.


1. Keep accurate and up-to-date records of individuals’ care, utilising Electronic Patient Recording

2. Ensure the safekeeping of individuals’ money and belongings and maintain detailed records of all transactions.

3. Render statistical returns as required and submit written reports as laid down in the Registering Authority guidelines.

4. Maintain compliance with the requirements of:-

a) Health and Safety Executive

b) Environmental Health

c) Fire Service

d) Registering Authority

5. Ensure good working practices are maintained.
