Job Advert Location Description

Priory Brain Injury Services (PBIS) provide specialised care pathways within the Priory for people with acquired brain injury (ABI). PBIS has been successfully delivering neurobehavioral rehabilitation and making a positive difference to people’s lives since 1985 to people with ABI, whose challenging behaviour prevents attainment of their maximum rehabilitation potential and personal autonomy.

Grafton Manor has a trans disciplinary team composed of psychologists, psychiatrists, therapists, nurses, rehabilitation assistants and support staff.  The Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist provides a key role in the clinical leadership of the programme.

Grafton Manor has 27 beds across 4 units including inpatient rehabilitation, transitional rehabilitation and community houses. It can admit patients informal patients or those managed within Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.

Job Advert Role Description

To ensure that high standards of resident care are consistently maintained at all times in accordance with agreed operational policies as a skilled member of the clinical team.

To promote and safeguard the wellbeing and interests of all residents, employees and visitors.

To assist Senior Staff in their management of the Unit and to provide effective leadership and management in their absence.

Responsibilities:

To identify, plan, implement and evaluate care plans and treatment programmes offering rehabilitation care/services to residents through effective systems of documentation, communication and practice.

To attend and contribute to the treatment planning meetings.

To be responsible for the care and interventions implemented during each span of duty, and be accountable for their own actions and those of unqualified staff whilst on duty.

To be proactive throughout the shift to keep abreast of all issues which may affect the residents or staff and to communicate effectively. 

Key Outputs:

To take on named nurse responsibility for residents.

To plan, implement and evaluate nursing care of individual residents. To implement treatment and rehabilitation programmes and guidelines for individual residents.

Take responsibility for the planning, running and documenting of sessions.

To provide support, guidance and leadership for other members of staff on shift. Model appropriate behaviour and skills

To ensure that operational policies are maintained and complied with; to advise senior staff of any amendments considered desirable.

To participate in a programme of Quality Assurance as directed by Managers.

To ensure that all Health and Safety policies and procedures are read, understood and complied with.

To assist in the setting and maintenance of clinical standards and implementation of clinical audits.

To act as a resource for all staff on shift as necessary and ensure full understanding of Health and Safety requirements.

To exercise economy in the use of drugs, dressings and equipment, providing a safe and cost effective service. 

To conduct yourself professionally within the standard and framework provided by the NMC “Code of Professional Conduct”. 

To work within the principles and framework provided by the NMC “Scope of Professional Practice”.

To implement the unit approach to Clinical Supervision.

Qualifications:

Registered Nurse on Parts 1,3,5,12,13 or 14 of NMC Register.

Post registration clinical course (desirable).

Skills/Knowledge:

Up-to-date knowledge of assessment and rehabilitation techniques.

Aware of NMC code of Professional Conduct.
