From hospitality to care: Chloe’s story


Chloe chose to leave her previous role as a bar assistant in the hospitality sector and join the team at Woodhouse Hall in Wakefield. In our Changing Sectors interview, Chloe told us more about why she felt a role in care was right for her.

What attracted you to apply for a job at Priory?

Career progression, a reputable company and an industry I wanted to work in and hopefully progress through. The different locations throughout the company offering psychologist applications and good opportunities for experience means there is a variety of ways to help vulnerable people.

What skills have you brought from your old profession to your new one?

I am able to communicate effectively with staff and service users and I’m able to deal with challenging situations and use my experiences and teamwork skills which are crucial to work as an effective team.

What’s your favourite thing about your role at Priory?

Making a difference to vulnerable people’s lives. It is a challenging but rewarding job where every day is different and seeing the service users smile and be happy is the best. It makes you realise how amazing the job is.

What advice would you have for someone considering a role in care?

Keep persevering even if you are struggling or finding it hard to take everything in. The service users you support will make your day and it is such a rewarding job. Make sure you are in the job for the right reasons.
